In February, America was shocked
as the space shuttle Columbia exploded over Texas,
killing all seven on board. Here in East Tennessee, scientists at ORNL are working hard to keep a tragedy like this from happening again.
One of their scientists, Dr. Edgar Lara-Curzio, is helping NASA investigators try to determine the problems which may have led to the disaster and find a solution.
Until an improved heat-resistant tile testing system is in place, all shuttle flights will likely remain grounded.
