I, too, can relate to her grief. Coyotes are around even where I live. I nearly hit one with my car last fall at dusk.

I'd floor it and go out of my way to hit those things. Crash. Whoops. I hate it when that happens!

Not that I'm a big fan of those things or anything....

He was pretty fast and I slowed down because I thought it was a dog.

Bad idea. I ran over a cat once going about 60MPH (my car, not the cat) and nearly lost control of the car. It felt as if I had run over a rock. I must have run over the head. Back off, cat lovers. It was an accident. The stupid puddy darted out into the path of my car.

It really startled my because I had run over quail, dove, and rabbit in the past and never felt a thing. I imagine hitting a coyote could do some serious damage to your car.
