I didnt realize they had coyotes in Conn. Are they there because some animal-rights Nazis wanted wild animals near urban centers and farms/ranches?

I would tell KLG to get a good shotgun, but, she prolly would get in trouble w the animal fascists for defending her pets and property.

I know KLG isnt the most popular of people, but, it is sad that her kids lost their little pet...and to a wild animal that enjoys more govt protection than the little kids

I've never heard of anyone who owned pitbills having much of a coyote problem.

On the plus side, maybe they will help to thin out the exploding deer population. I have family up there and large groups of deer roam right through their yard all the time and even walk right up to the house. They are a real nuisance. The real problem is the amount of contact they have with cars. And because it is such a densely populated (people) area, no one can hunt them except in some of the more remote parts of the state so they have no real predators except for the coyotes.

In fact, we could use some of those coyote here in Northern VA to thin out our deer population.

Some parts of Cincinnati are experiencing an Coyote infestation problem also, coyotes preying on pets just like poor, bleeding heart, Kathie.

We also have a way out of control problem with white tail deer, racoons, crows, you name it -- none of the liberals want to kill anything because....that's so crewelllll.

I wrote a story for a local rag in the '90s about coyotes, bobcats, and possums in Southern California. Usually, people think that any increase in these creatures in urban areas is because they're being "pushed out" of their habitat. Savvy Fish n Game and Animal Control folks told me that coyotes and bobcats, in particular, are VERY adaptable, stealthy, (bobcats are masters of super-stealth) and intelligent. They like cities and urban areas because there's always something to eat and someplace to hide. I was told that coyotes are great for ivy-heavy places because they eat rats, and possums (nasty looking critters!) are good for gardens because they keep the bugs down.
