I agree with you that gloating over a (well, most -- some people need killing. See, for example, Hitler, Pol Pot, Stalin, Mussolini, Idi Amin, Saddam Hussein, etc., etc.) person's death is not a proper Christian reaction.
Shaking hands is symbolic of "I mean you no harm." Some of these people mean to do us great harm, and I can see no good reason to give them the satisfaction that we mean them no harm. I mean to harm them, metaphorically speaking, of course.
For example, when Horowitz was a Leftist activist, I would not have shaken his hand -- I would have "dissed" him as effectively as I could. Now that he is one of us, so to speak, I have shaken his hand, and am proud that he has seen the light and has become one of us.
In the case of Crassville and McAwful, if they in the future were to renounce their evil ways, demonstrate that they respect the Constitution and the American people, I would probably shake their hand. Capisce?
Finally, I mean to destroy the LIEberal/Socialist/Marxists Bastards! I mean to destroy the notion that "From each according to their ability, to each according to their need" is a legitimate governing philosophy.
For starters!

Yeah, my boyfriend and I were discussing that. Because I thought that wasn't true. And he said it used to be. And then we both decided it still is, and that I'm too young and uncivilized to know that.
You may be right. :)
