It is intruiging !
I kind of wonder what happens if the water supply gets messed up in some way. Does the reactor just stop working, or does it go ballistic ???

This is by way of a postscript to my last comment: If I'm not mistaken, the French were running reactors on Thorium/Meso-Thorium ( of which they apparently had a good supply ) in the mid-to-late 1950's.

This sounds a bit like the U238 reactor described.

I think Proto-Actinium would work, but may be on the rare side.
