I would be careful not to dismiss out of hand, that God pays attention to nations and moves and disciplines them, since the Bible says that is precisely what He does.
If God promises that blessed is the nation which acknowledges and obeys Him, what does that say about nations that do not?

I seriously agree that blessed is the nation that obeys, and cursed is the nation that does not. I also believe God is watching closely, and acts in ways that we cannot be sure, and therefore I pray that our nation will obey. I just am suspicious of anyone trying to align specific sins or good works as responsible for God acting, or not acting to reward or punish. I don't believe someone can be that sure of God's agenda. They are guessing, sometimes right and sometimes wrong. Messing around with prophecy and being wrong just once makes one a false prophet.
A false prophet is someone I try to steer believers away from.
