I've heard that. But in this case it is not for myself that I would hope for something after this life, but for the Columbia astronauts, or for anybody who dies trying to further the progress of the human race.

In the way we live our everyday lives we are all trying to further the progress of humanity. We can choose to make that good or evil. We can make an impact in many ways that exemplify courage. G-d watches and knows if we are trying.
