You know that there are Palestinians dancing in the streets over this--death of an Israeli astronaut--like there were after 9/11. The media is VERY CAREFULLY avoiding showing us ANY reaction in the Arab world and I can't help but be certain they are jubilant.
I know they regret showing us the post-9/11 celebrations, but I am resenting the idea that anti-war sentiment among journalists is screening my news. They don't want me to know how my incipient enemies are reacting to this. Am I way off-base?!

Those who dance in the streets deserve no publicity or attention..ever IMHO.

No. And like I mentioned on the other thread : If any images are posted to any site, US or international , of "street celebrations" : Post the jpegs to FR, because the news media apparently removed all images of the post 9/11 celebrations as soon a s they could. I fear they may not post any such images at all, but if they do-we need to save them. It's like 1984.

No - I was thinking the same thing. Any symapathy that I ever had for the Palestinians was wiped out by their 9/11 celebrations and later by their seizure of the Church of the Nativity in Bethelem.

PS: I think we should be aware that it happens...but am not sure of how to report it without giving them publicity.

JERUSALEM (Reuters) - Israelis watched in shock on Saturday as their country's first astronaut was feared lost when the space shuttle Columbia apparently broke-up over Texas just minutes before landing. Israeli Air Force Col. Ilan Ramon was part of Columbia's science mission, which took off on January 16, bringing a rare sense of celebration and pride to Israelis mired in more than two years of conflict with the Palestinians.
Israeli television networks had cued in to the anticipated shuttle landing on Saturday at 9:16 a.m. EST, but ended up breaking live reports from the United States that the NASA space agency lost contact with the shuttle and feared it crashed in Texas.
"The government and people of Israel are praying together with the peoples of the world for the safety of the astronauts on the shuttle Columbia," Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's office said in a statement. full story

Well, nothing over here in the UAE.
I'm sure there will be a few bozos dancing in Palestine, though. I'll keep an eye on our media and see what comes up.

Well ... he wasn't JUST from Israel - he was one of the 2 pilots who flew the mission which took out Iraq's nuclear plant - several years ago. Although the world was irate at what Israel had done, it later proved to be very critical in keeping Iraq from having nuclear weapons.
Security was over-kill when the flight took off - because of this guy from Israel.
