When I was at accident investigation school, I read an edited transcript that I was told was from the actual CVR tape of the Space Shuttle Challenger.

I just don't believe this. The existence of such a transcript is the secret too big to keep.

I would not have mentioned that transcript here if I had not read it myself. I send out my prayers for the families--and I know you do as well. If it was a bogus transcript I read--then it was. But our chief instructor at Kelly said he heard the tape--and I believe him.

I only mention it because in the days and weeks to follow, these things are certain as death and taxes:

1. there is going to be an accident investigation board

2. the public is going to ask why NASA did not implement an emergency crew egress system after the Challenger disaster

I was told a newspaper printed the transcript years ago. Not sure if that happened, but I read it.

The voice transcripts from the Challenger event have not been released to the public at the request of the families.
