Yes, it is, and no, I'm not, but IT STILL SUCKS

Absolutely. I hope that we'll finally design better space vehicles. A second failure that kills the entire crew should not be ignored. No bandaids will fix the problems with the shuttle. We need new space vehicles, plain and simple.

We need to stop sending these types of shuttles into space when they've now killed two entire crews.

Isn't the Columbia the oldest of the shuttles? It seems like it was the first one they launched.

While this is tragic, keep this in perspective. Statistically, more people died in traffic accidents last night, than have died in the space program.

It's a twenty-year-old design. It's about time for a new design anyways.

Huh! Two accidents in twenty years. How many Airlines have crashed and killed all of their passengers in the same amount of time? The surprise is not that we have lost two shuttles, but that we have not lost more. Getting anything into space is a dangerous mission and no amount of engineering will make it 100% safe.

We are only in the first two hours of this disaster, I think we should wait just a little bit before we assign blame, or attempt to fix what went wrong.

The history of flight is the history of a dream,:-human-kind’s dream to soar through the sky like a bird.

This dream is filled with failure and set backs.
Since the 1900's would-be aeronauts have constructed and tested a wide variety of flying machines, often resulting in death or injury as they plummeted to earth.

When Air Alaska Flt 261 fell into the sea with 88 passengers on board.Did we call for for new MD 80's despite the age of the aircraft?

The shuttle is the best monitored space vehicle we have ever
produced and no doubt the cause of the break up will be eventually revealed.

Tragically, while I mourn the loss of life, it is the price we pay for progress and our dreams of conquering the stars.

We must not lose sight of the goal when we encounter a failure. We must not cease this noble quest.

There are already newly designed shuttles in use. This was the last of its kind-- the oldest and the heaviest.
We need to stop sending these types of shuttles into space when they've now killed two entire crews.
I remind you that these people, who chose to go on this flight, knew what they were flying and the chances they were taking. People die doing everyday things. People die doing risky things. That's life-- people die. We'll never be able to change it. We can only do the best we can to stop accidents. We are not God.
