January 24, 2003 - Miller's 'Catfight' Causes Controversy *** CHICAGO--Miller Brewing's TV spot "Catfight," which features two women in a mud fight over whether Miller Lite tastes great or is less filling, has generated some complaints, but Miller doesn't plan on changing the spot, the company said. The ad, from Ogilvy & Mather in New York, has been airing this month. It was debated on CNN's Crossfire with James Carville, where the founder of a group called Savior's Alliance for Lifting the Truth said she found the spot "utterly offensive." Carville thought the spot was "brilliant." ***

. . .Thanks CW for the Carville update. . .CNN's 'Crossfire' is no longer even close on my radar screen. . .

Re the ad; am wondering if this is the one that aired for SuperBowl; I had heard (so cannot verify the accuracy of this) that this add originally played so that after the women mudfighting, they then kiss. . .and that part was then pulled.

. . .either way, I suspect more commercials will descend and degrade into 'Reality TV' level for the consumer sale.

. . .as it is now, most are better than the program they sponsor :^)
