How many potential and real terorists (and drug trafficers) slip through LE, simply because one agency isn't aware of the records on a person?
Congress should direct that failure to extend a visa is a federal crime, and that the computer system should trigger/flag such overdue immigration status records.
If Abdul is pulled over in Dallas, for routine traffic matters, the officer on site should be able to query the system, learn that Abdul is currently in illegal status, and said officer should be deputized to arrest Abdul, and take him in.
Imagine Civil Rights activists outrage, that LE in this nation, would actually be enabled to take measures, towards improving national security?
Obviously to rational people, immigration (permanent or temporary) is a priviledge. Temporary should mean temporary. Failure on the part of the immigrant to keep his status current, should in itself constitute cause for deportation.
