Much of the above discussion deals with form and function as the determiners for valuation of an individual human organism living along a continuum begun at fecundation. I would like to set aside the religious discussion, to address that worthy notion first raised above by jennyp.

Scientist wishing to manipulate the earliest age of the individual human organism accept as a given that they are conceiving an individual human life with conception ... their goals for that life imply their axiom, that the conceived are individual human lives, for the scientists seek to utilize the body or body parts of those individual lives. The stem cells of the early age of the individual's continuum are their goal for exploitation, with embryonic stem cell research. Gross difficulties have arisen when tryig to apply totipotent cells to address medical problems for another more aged individual human. This indicates the target stem cells have not differentitated sufficiently for the desired application. A later age along the continuum is then sought. This argues strongly for the scientists axiomatic acceptance of the continuum concept, and the later differentiation age argues strongly for the notion of form and function to define the age ... the age of an individaul human life living along a continuum that is the lifeime begun at conception.

The question then becomes, to this ol' boy, "Do we arbitrarily disenfranchise individual human life because we want to exploit that individual for body parts, or do we adjust our perspective to address life support rather than explotation?"

With the bredth of kowledge and rational thought to be utilized here at FreeRepublic, I would bet our rational discussions could have an influence on future legislation and White House policy. Let's continue this discussion focusing on what it is we want our nation to embrace ... and I do definitely believe conceving then harveting body parts from individual human lives is cannibalism, whether those embryonic aged individual human lives are brought into existence via cloning or male/female gamete union.
