The manure pits I'm familiar with are different. They are more like a pond but at ground level. They just keep expanding as more manure is dumped into them and have no defined walls/sides around them.

They just keep expanding as more manure is dumped into them and have no defined walls/sides around them.Yeah these have sides about 5-6 ft above the top of the muck. So think about it, if you tossed / rolled a body down into it, it would submerge. Once submerged I would have my doubts as to it EVER coming to the surface.
If there were more water added it might because of the decomposition but there hasn't been ALOT of rainfall here.
