Can anyone confirm that Scotts boat was metal, not painted, small? Nothing that would impress Scott's country club friends. Doesn't seem like the kind of boat Scott Peterson would own, financial problems or not.

Being that the boat was purchased recently, maybe it had a very specific purpose.

Do we know as fact that Scott had a country club membership or financial problems or that he even bought that boat and when?

I haven't heard the family discuss that so if you have a link or can point me to the place that has that info, I would appreciate it!

It was a pretty dinky little boat by any standard, and one he certainly wouldn't have been bragging about. It very well could have had a specific purpose as you suggest. It would also be interesting to know exactly how many people knew about it since he had owned it for such a short period of time. His dad stated that he didn't know he owned it, and was somewhat surprised that he had purchased it in a phone interview he gave shortly after things started looking bad for Scott. It is an aluminum boat, not painted. 15 hp motor. Not a boat that I would be going far from shore in, especially in the SF bay. I would almost think it to be dangerous, and enough to get stopped by any Coast Guard or Fish & Game types if they saw him heading out in it from Berkely Marina, if for nothing else just to make sure he knew what he was doing and had ample safety equipment aboard. I don't know too much about those waters, so it may be considered normal, but a 14' boat w/ a 15 hp motor seems to me a little small to be taking on anything other than a small lake. It certainly wasn't built with sea conditions in mind. Basically it would be just a step up from bank fishing, and seemed to be well below Scott's tastes. But, hey, maybe he needed something in a pinch, and it fit the bill.
