Bush in Grand Rapids

Bush was in G.R. today...we were slightly out numbered, but still made the news. This is only my second post, so take it easy on me. I took photos but don't know how to upload them, I'll figure it out this weekend. Anyway, my story is as follows: A fellow Freeper called and told me we were very out numbered, and asked if I could help. I grabbed my camera, some cardboard and a marker. After making a SUPPORT OUR TROOPS! sign, I locked my doors at work and took off looking for Freepers. I ended up on the street where Bush's motorcade was going to come through. I was with about 10 other people, mainly business men and women, veterans, Mom types, and a few students. The crowd, claiming they wanted peace, was very violent twords us, screaming in our faces, "bumping" into us,etc. I held up my sign, took a few photos, and even got to see President Bush as his motorcade drove by. It was very exciting to see the President, meet fellow Freepers and to unite for something we support.

I nominate you as an honorary FReeper.
Will someone second my nomination?
Some folks here will help you upload pics. I've never done it either.
Good show today, photogirl!

I admire your dedication. Thanks for covering the good guys and gals with your camera. Looking forward to the images. If you have any trouble uploading the pics, let me know or just ask someone here on the board. There are plenty of techies that will help out.
Thanks to photogirl for bringing this opportunity to support our President to our attention through the remarkable venue- Free Republic, and the medium known as the Internet. Couldn't possibly have done it without your keen eyes and big heart.

Thank you again for the kind words. I only wish I could go to Lansing this weekend. (I have two weddings)I am going to try to get people from my school to go, so hopefully we'll have a big group.
I was in your state this weekend, I went to Chicago for a convention. We missed that big accident by a few hours. We had been thinking about leaving early. Once again God was looking over us, and sent a diversion. Earlier this week I was at a bank right across from my work, I got the change I needed, walked back across the street, unlocked the doors to see the bank I had just left swarmed with police!! A customer walked in and said the bank had just been robbed! If I would have left two min. later, I would have been there. I thank God that I wasn't.
Anyway that was my exciting week, hopefully this week will be less eventful. Hope your'e doing well. Photogirl

The crowd, lining up to see President Bush speak at DeVos Hall, stretches around the corner of Pearl and Monroe, in downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan.

President Bush, in a convoy of armored vehicles, travels through the streets of downtown Grand Rapids on the way to DeVos Hall, where he planned to deliver his second speech of the day. President Bush traveled from Spectrum Hospital, where he had spoken to a group of senior citizens and health care providers, following the previous night's State of the Union address to the nation.

A large crowd turned out to protest the President's visit. Most of the supporters of the President were awaiting his arrival at DeVos Hall. A small but enthusiastic group of counter protesters skirmished with the leftists in law abiding ways throughout the President's visit.

photogirl-
Glad to learn that you were not involved in the collision on I94. Traffic really flies south of GR on the interstate. I know the accident was elsewhere, but still... stay alert traveling.
Thanks for the pictures. It's satisfying when posting images, when one hits the post button and things go right, regarding the html code and the image hosting site.
I understand work beckons and you must work this weekend. There will be another day to show your support. Lot's of hard work lies ahead of us, as we will be called upon to campaign for our President in 2004.
What a drag- the frequency of robberies occurring in the greater downtown GR area ! I'll bet that was exciting.
Take care- rally the troops at GVSU. Later-
