Channel 11 just used the "casualty" word. They are saying CNN is reporting deaths.

It's not an exaggeration to say that literally 90% of the media is dumb enough to think casualty = dead.

Unfortunately, I don't think the media, fire departments, police departments, rescue services, etc. are completely aware of how badly the media doesn't understand the word casualty.

Err, meant to say the military, fire departments, etc. don't realize that the media doesn't know what "casualty" means.

Actually, they used it in the sense of "injuries and casualities." I wasn't very clear.
