- This country has many challenges. We will not deny, we will not ignore, we will not pass along our problems to other Congresses, to other presidents, and other generations. (Applause.) We will confront them with focus and clarity and courage.

After last night, W is unbeatable in '04. He will eventually be regarded as one of our greatest presidents. And his SOTU speech last night will be quoted for generations. He doesn't even have to worry about the whiners of the oppostition. They know in their hearts (if they have them) that W displayed exactly the qualities last night that they've never possessed. And, the country (voters) is reminded of those qualities every so often. It is a wonderful gift that GWB is our leader.

Why isn't the Great Global Society Program for Aids Relief a UN initiative? Why not a charitable enterprise? We can spend Billions for African healthcare and then we expect impoverished American senior citizens to go without medicine (they can't afford it either)?

Sending Americans into battle is the most profound decision a President can make. The technologies of war have changed; the risks and suffering of war have not. For the brave Americans who bear the risk, no victory is free from sorrow. This nation fights reluctantly, because we know the cost and we dread the days of mourning that always come.
- We seek peace. We strive for peace. And sometimes peace must be defended. A future lived at the mercy of terrible threats is no peace at all. If war is forced upon us, we will fight in a just cause and by just means -- sparing, in every way we can, the innocent. And if war is forced upon us, we will fight with the full force and might of the United States military -- and we will prevail. (Applause.)

We can spend Billions for African healthcare and then we expect impoverished American senior citizens to go without medicine (they can't afford it either)? What makes me mad is that I can't afford for my family a better health plan than an HMO. I would be able to get a better plan if 14% of my pay (don't forget what the employer pays that I would have been paid otherwise) wasn't stolen and redistributed to retirees. And those retirees are complaining that they don't want to have to go to an HMO. They'll have a choice. But because they're leeching enough of my income, my family and I won't.

The professor teaching Clinton 101 at the University of Arkansas learned well from her subject.

Helping people who are truly needy is laudable.
Helping people who are lifetime loafers and whose leaders encourage loafage is not as laudable.
Helping Africans is in vogue.
Revvum Jackson paints W and his party as haters of all things African? Fine. Take that. We love Africa.

A '68 Mustang isn't exculpatory BUMP!
Just yesterday I saw her on the senate floor speaking against the high salaries of company CEO's..... Hillary Rodham Clinton, as a New York State Senator, now comes under this fancy "Congressional Retirement and Staffing Plan," which means that even if she never gets reelected, she STILL receives her Congressional salary until she dies. If Bill outlives her, he then inherits HER salary until HE dies. He is already getting his Presidential salary until he dies. If Hillary outlives Bill, she also gets HIS salary until she dies. Guess who pays for that? WE DO! It's common knowledge that in order for her to establish NY residency, they purchased a million dollar-plus house in upscale Chappaqua, New York. Makes sense. They are entitled to Secret Service protection for life. Still makes sense. Here is where it becomes interesting. Their mortgage payments hover at around $10,000 per month. BUT, an extra residence HAD to be built within the acreage to house the Secret Service agents. The Clintons charge the Federal government $10,000 monthly rent for the use of that extra residence, which is just about equal to their mortgage payment. This means that we, the taxpayers, are paying the Clintons' salary, mortgage, transportation, safety and security, as well as the salaries for their 12 man staff - and this is all perfectly legal! When she runs for President, will you vote for her? 4 posted on 01/26/2003 5:10 PM EST by shaggy eel |
EXCELLENT analysis. It seems the most expeditious solution for us "regular people" is to make certain the clintons' primary residence is the hoosegow. I cannot think of a more satisfying way of killing two birds with one stone. |
