Our lovely Ilana leaves that part of history out. Jefferson acted against the Barbary Pirates based in the Ottoman province of Tripoli, now better known as Libya, in 1801. How soon people forget. Even Jefferson had to fight against tyrants and President Bush is simply following in his predecessor's footsteps.
