I think a lot of people are realizing that the shrill, "no war under any circumstances" people are starting to sound exactly like the anti-war, "peace at any price" appeasers in the run-up to WWII. People realize that if people like Churchill had been listened to instead of the appeasers, Hitler could have been stopped with the loss of very minimal -- if any -- bloodshed. Because the appeasers got their way, the death toll ended up being in the tens of millions instead. They now realize that if the appeasers get their way again, instead of deaths in the hundreds or thousands now, we will very likely be facing what ends up being a global conflagration within a decade, at the cost of hundreds of millions of lives or more.

Wow ... now there's a show of Clean Hands we can take to the Bank. (Though it's true that in a "Democracy", we need only 51% to decide the truth of any matter.)

Guess we can poll-point with pride for a change to the "wisdom of the American People" who -- along with George H Bush and Bob Dole -- didn't want Clinton actually removed from office and believed impeachment was all about sex and unfairly attacked the President's personal life within the semen-stained Oval Office.

Wait until next week as more data comes out.

Then on 5 Feb. Colin Powell will lay out some grims stuff at the UN.

Then only those who hate GW more than Uncle Soddomite will still be whining and moaning.

YOO-HOO SUSAN SARANDON!
Remember Sonny Callahan and how cavalierly the rapist ordered the troops to war?

Q ERTY8
BUMP!

This country has many challenges. We will not deny, we will not ignore, we will not pass along our problems to other Congresses, to other presidents, and other generations. (Applause.) We will confront them with focus and clarity and courage...

Sending Americans into battle is the most profound decision a President can make. The technologies of war have changed; the risks and suffering of war have not. For the brave Americans who bear the risk, no victory is free from sorrow. This nation fights reluctantly, because we know the cost and we dread the days of mourning that always come.

We seek peace. We strive for peace. And sometimes peace must be defended. A future lived at the mercy of terrible threats is no peace at all. If war is forced upon us, we will fight in a just cause and by just means -- sparing, in every way we can, the innocent. And if war is forced upon us, we will fight with the full force and might of the United States military -- and we will prevail. (Applause.)

State of the Union Address by President George W. Bush

BRAVO!

Glad to see the support for war has increased. I hadn't heard that. The reports on NPR sounded pretty negative (boy that's surprising).

I have a comment and a question. The comment is I liked the way Bush turned things around from the inspectors having to find something to Iraq having to disclose. The emphasis was on what Iraq has not done, not on what the inspectors have not done. This emphasis was good. I hope it continues.

The question is, how exactly are the inspectors supposed to help anything? That is, what is their purpose? I don't get it. If they found nothing, that wouldn't help anything. We know Iraq has the weapons. If they find something, that won't help either. Iraq would be forced to something about what they found, but anything found wouldn't even be the tip of the iceberg. I really don't understand at all how the inspectors are supposed to help. What is the alternative to forcibly disarming Iraq?
