I worked in an advertising photography studio. One of our techs had a filtered tv in the darkroom to pass the time while he was printing and developing. I happened to be in there dropping off film and stopped to watch the launch. We both stood in shock and said "ugh-oh" at the same time. Eventually all 6 employees were crammed in a small developing room, in the dark, watching the aftermath. I know I'll never forget.

I was in my last year of college. I had just gotten out of class for the morning and I was in my car driving home from the campus and heard the "major malfunction" over the radio.

I was in the 3rd grade in Minden, Louisiana. A buddy of mine came in after lunch before the class started and told me it had exploded. Even though I was a kid, I still remember President Reagan doing his speech that night from the Oval Office.

Preparing to fly to south Florida to accompany a friend to see her father who was dying. I was shocked by the disaster and it was difficult to leave my son, who was only three at the time, but felt I had obligation to go through with my plans to go with my friend.

I was at Ft Polk, LA. We were doing some training in the ops area when the First Sergeant came out and herded everyone inside to where the TV was. Everyone was in shock.

I was working that day and because there was someone with me in the car and we were talking, the radio was turned off. While driving on Route 1, I noticed some of those giant flags that car dealers use were flying at half mast. When we stopped to see a customer we heard the news from him and then it clicked as to why all those flags were at half mast.
