Well actually it looks like there will be. A lot of ballot came in really early -- gee wonder why? (No votes, perhaps? "Gasp!" says Steve Duin!) -- and I just saw a bit on the news about high turnout in eastside counties. Now, yeah, their pops are low, but still, it might be indicitive of a wider trend here.

BTW I love that tag line regarding the Axis of Weasels. Go Rumsfeld!

KGW conducted a poll. I saw it on the 11:00 pm news last night, but can't find it on their website. It broke down like this:

Yes--44%
No--52%
Undecided--3%


They didn't report the demographics of the poll but, if this is in any way close to correct, it's great news!

1190 KEX invited listeners to call in and voice their opinion about measure 28 this morning. Some said they would vote for it but, during the 1 1/2 hours I listened to it, most said they were upset with the scare tactics the proponents used. Some were, especially, upset that we were threatened with the release of prisoners.

It sounded like the proponents, and the media, may have overplayed their hand. I know this is not scientific, but I hope this is the case.

I'm only worried about the braindead voters in Multnomah and Clacakmas counties, if it passes that's where it will come from.

Also, note that everyone is reporting record high turnouts. I think this is good news, personally, but then I also thought there were enough votes still out at midnight on Election Night to kick Mannix over by 5000. So my calculator may not be reliable.

Dang today is going to be a busy day, between the SOTU Address and the election....
