VaBthang4, I wanted to ping you to this thread. These guys here are aware of how the US supplied Saddam with weapons in the 80s. I don't have a reference for you, but I could probably find one if I searched on Google. I've read it more than once and assumed it was common knowledge, as Iran was our big enemy at the time so the US armed Saddam. Of course I'm sure there are regrets now.

I work with sensitive information and let me tell you, I do *not* get to decide who gets to see it. If official channels do not exist at your level for exchange of information, you don't do it.
Pollard's got six feet on where he should be now. He shouldn't be whining.

"I am not an attorney. However, I have never heard of any law against "passing classified documents to an ally" that makes any distinction between such an action and espionage, especially any law that mandates a lesser sentence for such activity. I would appreciate a reference if you have one."How about you responding to Irene Adler's Post #12???

Posting a Pollard article on FreeRepublic is tantamount to a death wish :-)
Certainly he shouldn't be executed, not when far worse spies like Aldrich Ames are still breathing air.
But I find it difficult to work up much enthusiasm for seeing him as a martyr. After all, he took money for violating his oath of secrecy.

I don't lose any sleep over Pollard. I saw the double standards sumarized in the last paragraph as the focus of the article rather than Pollard, though she obviously wastes 3 paragraphs on him.

I believe Pollard pled to one count of espionage. Clearly than can result in a life sentence, since that's what Pollard got.

Thanks.
I point blank know we didnt supply Saddam Hussein with Chemical or Biological weapons.
He was supplied with equipment and ingredients that had dual use. Under the guise of farming, science and medicine etc etc. Once we discerned that Hussein was using these things instead for military uses....we pulled the plug.
To go further...if we did build Saddam Hussein....a point I do not cede...but if we did...then it is our responsibilty to dispatch him.
Eitherway...
The case to attack Iraq is clear.
