A thought worthy of consideration. Then, again, after hearing the report, one has to wonder if Jane Fonda was leading the inspectors.

You may be confusing the two guys. The first guy, the one puportedly with knives was lead away, the "save me" guy was dragged.

Check the pictures that Diogenesis posted:

But I agree that we probably will never know the truth. Regardless, the UN inspectors' behavior was inexcusable.

Excuse me ... but I'm not the least bit confused.

I don't agree with your premise that this was some POOR Iraq person who wanted asylum. Even if I heard the guy say it from his own mouth - I would NOT believe it. Why ... because the only thing Iraq knows how to do is lie - and the people of Iraq know they must do what they are told or face instant death.

But ... you're entitled to your opinion!

the people of Iraq know they must do what they are told or face instant death.

----

Precisely -- that's why he was begging the UN "save me".

But even if there is doubt about his sincerity, don't you think that the UN inspectors should have kept him in the compound, until they find out one way or the other, just in case he was telling the truth? If he had been a plant, there would have been no harm done, and on the chance that he was sincere, they could have saved his life, and possibly gained information.

I think the bottom line is really the behavior of the UN inspectors, which I consider totally reprehensible. You made no comment on whether you agree with their behavior, which in my opinion is the real issue here.

And ... if they had saved his life ...

How many others in his family would have died ...??

You just don't get it, do you ...?? If the guy was for real (and I still don't think he was), the moment he had secured safety for himself, all his family members would be dead - how many people would take such a risk ...??

These people know Iraq will kill their families - they would never take such a chance.

A guest on Fox News told the name of the guy who tried to defect. Anyone catch that? What's the latest on this story?

Haven't heard anything about this guy in a while. Should I assume that the people to whom the UN turned this guy over have killed him by now?

BTTT. In light of recent shenanigins, shouldn't this story be revisited? Again, does anyone know which country these inspectors were from?

I understand why a corrupt UN wants this story to go away, but why has our media squelched it?

Enad is alive and free.

Perhaps GWB can get him to speak at the Republican Convention.
