I once did some quick research on the question of the proper usage of "bold-faced" vs. "bald-faced" (because I was wondering whether it was more correct to say "Bill Clinton is a bold-faced liar" or "Bill Clinton is a bald-faced liar"). My conclusion was that the most correct statement would have been "Bill Clinton is a despicable, lying, treasonous rapist". Oh, but I digress. My other conclusion was that the term "bold-faced" has been in the language for a long time. The word "barefaced" has also been in the language for a long time. And, it appears that the term "bald-faced" may have been derived more recently as a combination of the two (but meaning essentially the same thing), but indeed it has entered the language, and so all of them are valid.

... but indeed it has entered the language, and so all of them are valid.I suppose that's how language melts into the blob.
