We should be far more worried about North Korea, which is being run by a crazed madman. Not that Saddam isn't a crazed madman. But Kim Jong Il has been rattling his sabers for months now. I actually think he's crazier and more dangerous than Saddam.
The UN created Israel by resolution.
On the day Israel was created, the arab nations declared war against it. In spirit and in some cases, in fact, they have never rescinded that declaration of war.
The US has been a staunch supporter of Israel.
The Islamists want the extinction of Israel.
Saddam Hussein see himself as the leader of the Islamic anti-Israeli forces.
Saddam Hussein is closest to being a real threat to our support of Israel through his WMD research and capabilities.
Saddam Hussein can hamstring the US support of Israel by influencing our internal politics by (threats of and) support of terrorist attacks. That is happening right now.
If he is not stopped directly by us he is emboldened to pursue those attacks.
He does not have to declare war against us to support, materially, those who would like to see us destroyed.
He does not have to attack us directly to attack us indirectly by harboring terrorists.
You are right about North Korea. They think that we cannot fight two wars at once and they think that we have no political "balls"
Saddam Hussein is their test of us.
Take em' out one threat at a time but they both must go.
