I didn't call you stupid. I referred to a statement which sounded like it was stupid.
As we know, our government (in its infinite wisdom) seems to believe in "divide and conquer." As someone pointed out earlier, there are more "racial" categories on the detailed census form than you can count.
But another poster put the truth in a nutshell when he said that there were three races: in essence, he said they were Caucasian, Negroid, and Asian or Asiatic.
The politically correct types are eager to lump all Americans with any type of Spanish heritage into this made-up term, "Hispanic." This is an artificial category. It can include persons of any race. If Mexicans in your state are "denying that they are Caucasian," it is probably because they are marking "Hispanic" in those little boxes. The government puts that word as a category, then it puts things like "white" and "black" as a category. White and black are races, but Hispanic is not. There is where the confusion starts.
My guess is that those Mexicans you are talking about are designating themselves as Hispanic to get political and other benefits. But Hispanic is not a race.
For my part, I've seldom met a person who had some Caucasian in their make-up, who denied it.

You freepmail me, then post a message on this thread, with basically the same information. One would have been sufficient.
Have a nice day.

Same thing.

HM, it is NOT the same thing!
As a parallel of this, have you ever heard of someone who hates the sin, but loves the sinner?
I dislike the stupidity, but I do not necessarily dislike the person who made a statement which does not make sense to me. And I completely recognize the fact that a smart person can sometimes make a stupid statement.
And I also know that, whether I myself am smart or stupid, I have certainly made a stupid statement sometimes. On Freerepublic, as you no doubt know, any statement that is questionable in any way will be questioned.
I came clean with you and told you the reason for my ire. Please accept it. I am too old to take that sort of misperception by people any more, and to remain silent in the face of it, as I did when younger. Won't you at least have some thought for a tired elderly person?

Thank you for clarifying, D. It is very appreciated...and I do agree with you.
***Won't you at least have some thought for a tired elderly person?***
Golly gee, you're probably younger than me. :o)
