If a guest worker has a baby in the US, is the child automatically a citizen?

I think anchor babies and family reunification that allows someone to "sponsor" a relative they immediately get on SSI and Medicaid need to stop ---I think the entire immigration system needs to be reformed. I just don't know how 100% can be deported because there are some who work for cash and are pretty "blended in" ---how can you get them without federal agents coming uninvited onto private property looking for them? They can be deported if and when they try to access government services or try to obtain free medical care.

I don't support a guest worker program because the questions I asked & many others cannot/will not be answered. You don't have to go door to door to round them all up & deport them. The government has to eliminate the incentives for illegals to come here. Stop access to social programs, stop anchor babies & extended family immigration, stop free medical care, stop free education, and impose severe penalties on employers who knowingly hire illegals.

The Feds should withhold funds from states that accept the Mexican ID, that have law enforcement agencies with policies that allow illegals to be released, and LEA's that do not coordinate w/ the INS to deport illegals.

The Feds should revoke FDIC standing to any financial institution that takes the Mexican ID.

These policies in conjunction with increasing the number of border patrol agents would be a good start in eliminating the desire to cross the border illegally.

There are ways. Most illegals work for a business of some sort; there's only so many housekeeping jobs available. If you are a business owner and pay someone in cash off the books, you usually have to do some creative accounting. Basically, you have to engage in tax fraud. The IRS could detect most of this by doing more audits of businesses in idustries that tend to hire illegals. Most businesses only hire illegals if they have fraudulant papers so they don't have to engage in tax fraud. The INS can weed out close to 100% of these cases by more careful screening and verification of the documents.

They can be deported if and when they try to access government services or try to obtain free medical care.

There's more to it that that. It is already necessary to show a state or other government-issued ID, or have a social security number, in order to open bank accounts and engage in many every-day life activities. Prohibit all governments from granting of such IDs to illegals (currently illegals can get drivers' liscences in some states). Make it impossible to get a social security number if you are illegal (currently, it is not too difficult). Prohibit the use of the new matricula card. Stiffen the penalties for document fraud. Such measures would make the life of an illegal very difficult, and would likely encourage most of those who don't get caught to leave voluntarily.
