Warren Huh. I had some real good friends that lived two blocks East of 9 mile and Vandyke. Yes folks it is one mile north of the same 8 Mile they made a dumb movie about.

After I left active duty I moved to Roseville around 12 and Gratiot. I worked at the Ford Axle plant in Sterling Heights.

When Carter was in office and mortgage rates were around 14% and lines to get gas were a mile long and the country was torn up with run away inflation and layoffs every where..(Oh I forget we're not suppose to bring up these kind of memories because we are now experiencing the worst economy in our nation's history)I got layed off for six months and decided to move to Colorado.

I go back to visit, but I don't stay long. Tom's Writings

ps Just think if you live in the Upper Peninsula would you be a Yooping Freeper or a Freeping Yooper?

I had some real good friends that lived two blocks East of 9 mile and Vandyke.

We were right on 10 mile between Vandyke and Schaener (?). My grandfather came here from poland...was the ultimate "dreamer"...my grandmother, also from poland...they met here...miss Practical. It was the oddest match...he kept speculating and losing money...she alway made sure my mom and my aunt "DIDN'T FEEL POOR" although in retrospect they were...BUT THEY NEVER TOOK A HANDOUT AND ALWAYS HAD A HIRED HAND "ON THE NON PRODUCTIVE FARM"...

Anyway...my grandmother almost left him when he insisting on buying 20 acres of land on 10 mile between VanDyke (and I think Schaner...I might be wrong on that)... Was an old beaten down farm...They had their old house...my parents had one "moved" (easy in the old days) and my aunt and family built one.... All humble homes but lots of property...loved playing "combat and rat patrol" in the woods with my cousins (I was the only girl). Well...in his death grampa did okay....today it would be a fortune...back when it was sold...it just made sure my "babci" (grandma in polish) lived a comfortable life. It's now a whole medical/hospital complex....The house I was raised in is still there..but the rest is a medical "complex" and I think the owner of the house I was raised in is defiantly not selling...It is old...small...humble but special..
