Editor of Iranian Conservative Government Daily Attacks President Bush and Calls on Muslim Youth to Launch Martyrdom Operations Against the U.S.
The following are excerpts from an editorial by Editor Hussain Shariatmadari that appeared in Iran's conservative daily, Kayhan:[1]
"Today, the majority of the peoples of America and Europe understand that Bush's personality is like [that of] one of the millions of vagabonds and bastards seen all over the world, particularly in America. Had he been born 150 years ago, and had he put a six-shooter on his belt, and had he robbed and killed the passengers of stage coaches traveling on the unguarded dusty mountainous roads in those days if this kind of vagabond bastard had appeared [wearing] a sheriff's uniform
someone would have come to give him some bullets in the chest, ending his miserable life and saving [the taxpayer from paying] the money to hire the sheriff [and] preventing massacres. But what about today?"
"'Why drop bombs? Drop Bush from an airplane'
'Bush is a fascist,' 'Bush is Hitler,' 'Bush is a war criminal'
'Bush is stupid,' 'Bush is retarded,' 'Bush is insane.' These are slogans said daily by millions of people in America and Europe
"
"[The] great majority of Muslim people, particularly the young ones in Islamic countries, wait impatiently for American military action, because the stupidity of Bush and his gang and the massacre of millions of innocent Muslims [in Iraq]
will spark the same reaction [as in Palestine] and encourage young Muslims in other countries to take revenge on the American military."
"
Today, hundreds of young Palestinians are seeking martyrdom. They have written their names on the long list of Jihad, and they await [their] turn. There will be great opportunities to take revenge upon the American military, [and] this will be easier than the revenge [sought by] the Palestinians. Why miss the opportunity?"
"In the event of an American attack, the Muslim masses will join this divine and holy war. Lebanon and Palestine are two clear examples of this."
"
Can America stand in the way of people seeking Shehada [martyrdom] in God's way? Will the seekers of martyrdom get their wish because of the American presence in the region?"
"Imam Khomeini said: 'A nation that seeks Shehada is unfettered.'"

Wartank,
I stand corrected. It is a common mistake to refer to all people from the Middle East (except Israelis) as Arabs. In reality, I probably should have said MUSLIMS instead of Arabs.

Persians hate Arabs??? Historically that has been true. Do you think it still holds true in today's world where the region has become "Muslim vs. non-Muslim" regardless of whether the Muslim happens to be Arab or Persian?
And as for your "you'll learn with time" comment...what the hell is that supposed to mean?

Wartank,
The people have nothing to do with the regime? Sure, I guess those weren't "Iranian citizens" I saw burning US flags, taking US hostages in the years following the Iranian Revolution.
Look, I am WELL aware of the political developments in Iran and how the younger generation is more Pro-Western than the older generation. I have followed the demonstrations, eve including Khomeini's grandson, for the past few years. So do NOT accuse me of being ill informed. I just believe that a significant portion of the Iranian population is still strongly anti-american, and until such time that the Islamic extremists are driven from power, I will be wholly justified in that belief.
You say Jordan is a better ally than MOST Europeans??? What side did Jordan take in the first Gulf War? Saudi Arabia? Why did they side with the UN/US in the first Gulf War? Geez, maybe because Sadaam invaded their nearest neighbor (Kuwait) and had his eyes on Saudi Arabia next. Now the ungrateful vermin will NOT side with the US in the current war to be with Iraq.
It's not Muslim vs non-Muslim??? Yeah, I guess I was hallucinating when I saw pictures of Middle Eastern citizens cheering when the news broke of the 9/11 bombings.

Wartank,
I would guess from the tone of your posts that you are an Iranian-American and/or a Muslim. If that is true, I apologize that you are offended by comments, but I clearly stand by them as factual. I am not saying that ALL Muslims share these views or that te United States SHOULD look at this as a Holy War. BUT, the fact remains that a significant portion of Middle Eastern Muslims view the struggle with Israel and the United States as some sort of morbid replay of the Crusades...a Jihad as you might call it in the Muslim faith. This is FACT. Look at the extensive polling data on the Middle East.
As for your comments about Europeans/Christians who are negative about the US...I think you'll find that there's a MASSIVE difference between disagreeing with US policy and calling us arrogant (as many Europeans did)and physically cheering at the news of 9/11 (as many Middle Eastern Muslims did). How many Christian Germans or French run around with Bin-Laden T-Shirts on the way they do in the Middle East?

Muslim Youth to Launch Martyrdom Operations Against the U.S.
Hey You, Infidel!
A young Muslim man, who refused to give his name, shows his feelings toward the media outside the Federal Court House in Buffalo, New York September 18, 2002 where he sat to show his support for the six local suspected al-Qaida supporters who appeared inside the court, September 18, 2002. The six men have been charged with providing material support to al Queda from nearby Lackwanna, New York.

Methinks this editor and the mullahs should be quite. They don't know it yet, but there's a bullseye painted on their collective foreheads.
Then again, methinks the rest of the Persians are going to clean house before we even get there.
