Ironically, the events of 9/11 actually confirmed something that I speculated back in 1991.

In the first Persian Gulf war, the U.S. was on the wrong side.

Then ask yourself if any elected leader on the planet would even dream of risking that many casualties in a chemical or biological attack.

Ask yourself this-what IF the threat that was exercised (and you can be pretty damn sure there was one) wasn't to American servicemen but to unprotected American civilians? You can bet he has weapons of mass destruction, it is what has ensured his survival this far.

You may have a point here. We probably should have played nice and iced him while he had no suspicions to think we would do otherwise. Always best to kill diabolical maniacs before they get too powerful.

If that were the case, then Saddam Hussein would have nothing to fear. He'd be welcomed by the U.S. with open arms as a "partner in peace" or something like that.

That's the way the world works. The American way. And the Russian way, the Chinese way, the Indian way, etc.

Hey AC, thanks. It's nice to get the perspective from "Bizzaro World" where everthing is "back@$$wards"...180 to 360 degrees out of sync with reality, and Kryptonite makes Superman feel GOOD.

Islamic terrorists (primarily Saudis) supported by Saudi money killed 3,000 American civilians on 9/11/01. How many has Saddam Hussein killed?

What most people don't realize (and what your government will never tell you) is that before 1991 Iraq had a reputation as the most moderate Islamic state in the Middle East other than Jordan. Tariq Aziz, the deputy prime minister of Iraq, isn't even a Muslim, for heaven's sake -- he's a Maronite or Chaldean Christian.

Like I said -- The U.S. was on the wrong side in the Persian Gulf war.

Back in 1991 I said that Saudi Arabia and the other fundamentalist Islamic regimes in the Middle East represented a far greater threat to the U.S. than Iraq. Back then people thought I was nuts, said I lived in a "Bizarro World," and things like that.

After September 11, 2001 nobody thought I was nuts anymore.

At the risk of sounding arrogant, I'd suggest you go through a random sampling of my FR posts throughout the last two years -- I guarantee you'll find that I'm one of the most well-balanced, rational people on this site.

You might want to take note when a well-balanced, rational person like Alberta's Child starts saying "Bizarro" things.

No, it's me!

And so am I.

New Cruelty thinks that people that drop the first person pronouns (I and me) and refer to themselves in the third person are really, really strange. ; )

Ask yourself-why did Al queda use all Saudi's for that operation? Why didn't they use any of the other countless nationalities they have at their disposal for cannon fodder? Could it be we were trying to be drawn into a rift with the Saudi goverment that the Al Queda leadership abhors?

I agree, many mistakes were probably made in regards to the situation in Iraq. Some of them, probably not with the best intentions. But that does not erase where we are today.

We have a man with 7 billion+ dollars at his disposal with a strong desire to punish the United States. If you don't think he has a marraige of convenience with Islamic terrorist groups, I would have to think you are wrong. He can''t count on his own people to do his bidding as he knows there is a loyalty factor there. But he CAN count on Islamic fundamentalist Jihadist to be true to their cause, that their hatred of US runs just as deep and he knows he can take that to the bank.

LOL.

Actually, there is a strong possibility that someone who refers to themselves in the third person had a stuttering problem as a child. Speech therapists will often have patients with speech impediments refer to themselves in this manner because it has been shown to reduce the psychological "pressure" that confuses speech.

Now where else but FreeRepublic would you ever learn such a thing? :-)

You actually did time at Fort Polk? You poor b@st@rd ...
That's the pure definition of a "hardship tour".

BlueLancer: three tours to Korea (2ID), one tour to Germany (Mannheim), and 14 years at Fort Hood (before retirement).

What can you do? Even Hitler had a lot of supporters before all hell broke loose. Some folks only learn after they get burned ......and in some cases, repeatedly.

There are a couple of problems with what you've posted:

1. Al-Qaeda didn't just use Saudi personnel to carry out these missions -- they've been using Saudi money for years to support their operations throughout the world.

2. They couldn't use just any ordinary terrorist to carry out those attacks. They had to be intelligent and come from some kind of respectable situation at home in order to go through the process of learning to fly the planes at a U.S. flight school. Less intelligent grunts would be used in suicide bomb attacks, car bombings, etc.

3. Historically, Saddam Hussein considered Islamic fundamentalists more of a pain in the @ss than the U.S. ever did.
