This cartoon, created by Sergeant Bill Mauldin of United Feature Syndicate, Inc., was part in the series entitled, 'Up Front With Mauldin' for which he won the Pulitzer Prize in 1945 for distinguished service as a cartoonist. This particular cartoon is entitled, 'Fresh, spirited American troops, flushed with victory, are bringing in thousands of hungry, ragged, battle-weary prisoners.' Mauldin, the Pulitzer Prize-winning cartoonist who portrayed World War II reality laced with humor, died Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2003 in Newport Beach, Calif. He was 81.
