Looks like a race to see who can be hated the most in America - the question is, who will win the "race to be hated," Muslims or Jews? My money is on the Muslims, judging from the utter refusal of their leaders to make any sort of apology for the Islamists.

Hey RCW, come clean. Who are you? Christian, Muslim, or what? Come on tell us... inquiring minds want to know.

"The survey found higher anti-Semitism among Democrats than Republicans. Twenty percent of Democrats and Independents tend to 'view Jews as caring only about themselves,' compared to only 12 percent among Republicans."

I'm fond of various Jewish friends, have worked under and with various Jewish people and find anti-Semitism frightening, particularly in Europe. I support Israel whole heartedly, and even have an Israeli flag on a wall in my home.
However, having worked in media....with access to the "yellow book" listing (all) reporters for various media, print and broadcast, I can confidently say, something like 1/4 to 1/3 of the US media are of Jewish heritage. This is from a group with makes up less than 3% of the population. Now I know most (while being overwhelmingly liberal in perspective) try to be objective, its only natural for them to favor Jewish causes...even if unconcioiusly. Hollywood especially, as well as academia, law and medicine also have large numbers of Jewish people...God's old chosen people are certainly not dumb!!! I would say in a meritocracy...which America aspires to be, for all kinds of reasons....you WILL have a lot of Jewish people on top....
To deny this is kind of silly, and only adds to the anti-Semites irrational fears. Still, when you have a nation--which recieves a ton of US aid--which is primarily of one ethnicity, one must keep in mind the fact that a lot of powerful people of the same ethnicity in your country may not be entirely objective when it comes to that country. Even so, I would be more concerned if any other ethnicicity had the kind of influence (which I find mostly benign and positive) which Jewish people have in America.

It is a cultural fear based on 2000 years of diaspora life.
Jewish prominence became cause of or excuse for anti-Semetic attacks many times.
I spoke to a number of JEws who were afraid when Gore chose Leiberman that their would be rioting.

The poll showed that nearly a third of all U.S. citizens fear a Jewish president may have divided loyalties when dealing with IsraelWell, since I've had a number of claiming-to-be-Jewish freepers tell me that Jonathan Pollard behaved properly, this 1/3 might have a point. Certainly they would if the Jewish president took this same viewpoint.

hehe ... I think someone who simply opposes the right of the State of Israel to exist ... every now and then he goes off to a few "regular" articles ... but he always returns to this one-note post ... anything that makes Israel or Jews look bad and anything that might influence American public opinion against Jews or Israel ... the posts for the last 6-8 months are 90% non-favorable towards Israel / Jews ... (BTW, I am not Jewish)

That may be so, but then why is the media increasingly and constantly been so pro-Palistinian and anti-Israeli?
To: RCW2001
The poll also found that that 34 percent of Americans agree that "Jews have too much influence on Wall Street," and 37 percent believe that the Jews were responsible for killing Jesus Christ. Well, I believe the Jews were responsible for killing Jesus like the Italians were responsible for killing Caesar -- someone died and there was someone Jewish/Italian involved in the conspiracy, but the Question is stupid by nature of its generalization.
per wall street: generally people in the financial world only have as much influence as they earn.

Since Jews have been a target of discrimination and enslavement, yet risen to become a prominent (apparently) world force, shouldnt other races emulate them for their success in spite of negative history? Just wondering...JFK

I wonder what party would say something like "Jews have to much influence"? Sounds a lot like Rush Limbaugh has too much influence, Republicans have too much money ...
To: Alas Babylon!

thank YOU for stating what should be the incredibly obvious ... the media has been ANTI-Israel for a LONG time ... pretty much matching the United Nations on what is "truth" and "fairness" ... yet people continue to blame the "Jewish" media ... the media certainly doesn't reflect Orthodox or Conservative Judaism, that's for certain ... go figure ...

The details of this poll will be known, eventually.
I expect it will be like the poll reported yesterday where over 50% of the respondents thought income taxes rates were "just about right".
Which was eyebrow-raising until some resourceful soul discovered that 80% of those respondents paid no income tax at all!
Can you say "class-warfare" confirmed?
Kind of makes an unintended point crystal clear.
