JJ's dream is of race-baiting, poverty pimpin', shakedownin', ill-gotten gains and extra-marital sex!

Proud to say I have been a part of his repudiation for the past two years.

Rev. Peterson blasted Jesse Jackson for his "legacy of racism" and for "hijacking Dr. King's dream" as did speakers:
Jane Chastain, host of "The Judicial Watch Report" Radio Show;
Ted Hayes, activist for the homeless;
Rabbi Nachum Shifren, educator/activist; and
Pastor Wiley Drake (First Southern Baptist Church of Buena Park).
"This year's rally was a success. We had a great turn out and the speakers were excellent!" said Rev. Peterson.
See my posts on these four speakers, to follow.

Also speaking briefly, but not on the official program were Barbara Coe and several young people from the BOND program, including one young man who read a POWERFUL excerpt from Dr. King's most famous speech (from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, Washington, D.C. - August 28, 1963):

"...I say to you today, my friends, so even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream.

I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident; that all men are created equal."

I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood.

I have a dream that one day even the state of Mississippi, a state sweltering with the heat of injustice, sweltering with the heat of oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice.

I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character..."

Pastor Wiley Drake (First Southern Baptist Church of Buena Park)

Another Christian Church Under the Gun

For Helping The Homeless!

by Mel Young - Published: 02.17.01

(Ed. More Persecution of Christians)

I don’t know how many times I’ve had discussions with others about the totally unconstitutional operations of the Federal Government with respect to welfare, HUD, food stamps and all the rest of the socialist handouts; mostly to people who shouldn’t be getting them. In any event, one thing always seems to come out and that is, why aren’t the churches taking responsibility for helping their fellow man? Well, here’s a great example of an answer to that question.

Pastor Wiley Drake of the Buena Park First Southern Baptist Church believes that it is the responsibility of the churches and all Christians to lend a hand and try and help those less fortunate to help themselves. That belief, in this day and age of feelgood churches which preach the milk of human kindness and brotherly love but haven’t a clue what the hell they are preaching about, is in itself, a rare phenomenon.

Four years ago, the City of Buena Park, located just a few miles from Disneyland, and a major tourist trap itself, paid a visit to Pastor Drake and informed him that helping the homeless was against the law in the city. Essentially, it was a violation of city codes, permits and licenses (the power to license is the power to destroy).

It seems that rather than have homeless people sleeping under freeway overpasses, in city parks, in doorways, on public sidewalks, etc., the Pastor had established a program for those who truly wanted to better themselves. This could simply not be allowed. The city is rumored to have a policy that feeding the homeless is like feeding rats. Let them starve and they go to someone else’s back yard.

The church had a large parking lot, so tents were pitched for some of the homeless. Others parked their cars or RV’s in the church parking lot. The church provided the necessary facilities to allow the homeless to clean up, eat decent meals, and help one-another as the church helped them to improve their educational and interview skills and seek work on their own.

Naturally, someone complained. When ever somebody helps somebody else and it is out of the ordinary, there must be a complaint filed so that big brother can get it’s unjointed nose under the flap of the tent.

The City of Buena Park, which seems to think it’s excrement doesn’t stink, went after the Pastor and his church with a vengeance. He was told to cease and desist and kick the homeless back on the streets or criminal charges would be filed. He refused - the city filed.

Six charges were filed, alleging that the church had failed to obtain various building permits for work done around the church. The church couldn’t find copies of their permits to prove they had filed. Thankfully, someone at city hall assisted the church in locating copies of the permits it had taken out and those charges had to be dropped. But this was only the beginning.

Four more charges involved improper use of church buildings; in other words, violation of city conditional use permits. What it boils down to is that you can pound on the pulpit till doomsday, mouthing admonitions to the flock to help others but you may not put your actions where your dogma lies and actually do anything worth mentioning. Changing the use of a building without the city’s permission is a terrible no-no.

The final charge was that of allowing people with motor homes or pickups with campers to park on the church parking lot and sleep in their vehicles.

A jury trial found the pastor to be innocent of one charge but guilty on four counts. The City Prosecutor wanted to put Pastor Drake in the slammer for five long years.

The Judge stated that the charges should never have been filed in the first place. He sentenced Pastor Drake to 1,500 hours of community service, noted that the pastor had been helping the homeless for the previous seven years and counted the 1,500 hours as having already been served. The judge did place the pastor on three years probation.

Shortly thereafter, the City went back to court, asking that the terms of probation be modified so they could send police into the church buildings to check and see if any homeless people were sleeping inside. According to the city, they had received a complaint and someone had seen prayer mats. (oh, my goodness!)

Naturally, all of this was for the health and safety of the people within the church. I guess that it’s much healthier to live on the street where you can be mugged or murdered, hit by a car, catch all sorts of diseases, freeze to death in the winter, stink to high heaven from lack of sanitary facilities and even have to "go" in alleys or where ever you can.

(Ed. They probably won't freeze to death in Florida, but the point is well taken.)

Now, with the IBT gone and no recriminations, the city is, once again, on the warpath. They have notified the church that they will come to inspect the premises for health and safety violations (again) on February 20th at 10 a.m. Pacific time.

It’s interesting to note that churches produce little if any revenue for a city. Rumor has it that someone wants that piece of property very badly to build a new automobile dealership on. Does the plot seem to thicken?

There’s a big difference, though. Pastor Drake does not intend to be a shrinking violet, as was the case at IBT. (He went back to the IBT to help stand firm but the church leaders caved in for a "peaceful" giveaway of their church to the IRS.)

Pastor Drake is asking for help and support. He’s a staunch supporter of the Constitution and Second Amendment Rights, and realizes that if the City of Buena Park is allowed to continue the harassment and attempts to close the church, this will serve as a green light for similar operations all over the country. It has to stop and it has to stop here and now.

Rabbi Nachum Shifren, educator/activist

Surfs up! This Rabbi Rides a Mighty Wave

Having Found God in the Ocean,
He Wants to 'Take the Surf and Bring it Into the Beit Midrash'

By Gary Shapiro

In the classic 1964 movie "Endless Summer," two surfers leave Los Angeles and travel the world in search of the perfect wave. They travel to South Africa, Australia, Tahiti and Hawaii before returning home - but they never make it to Israel. Few people have thought about Israel and surfing in the same breath. That is until three years ago, when Rabbi Nachum Shifren left California to live in an 80-family town near Ariel, north of Tel Aviv. He surfs regularly at Herzliya, a town on the coast. He likes to call himself "the Surfing Rabbi."

Rabbi Shifren was born at California and by the age of 13 was surfing at Malibu ("founded by no coincidence" he notes, by Chumash Indians, whose name resembles the Hebrew term for the five books of Moses). He grew up a secular Jew, studying at the University of Hawaii from 1969 to 1972. In Honolulu, he surfed the biggest waves in his life on the famous Bonzai Pipeline. He earned a degree in Spanish and German literature and pursued graduate work in Germany at the University of Göttingen. Moving to a kibbutz in Israel after the Yom Kippur War, he served in the Israeli army for two years and became an Israeli citizen. He later studied at Jerusalem's Toras Chayim Yeshiva and Kfar Chabad's Yeshivat Tomchei Tmimim in Kfar Chabad, Israel, where he received his ordination in 1990. After one more stint in America, as an English teacher to children in south central Los Angeles from 1991 to 1995, he made aliya with his family.

"Israel has got to have just about the worst surfing in the world. When God made Israel, he must have thought, 'If I make the surf reazlly good, no one will study the Talmud,'" Rabbi Shifren says, adding, "Surfing in Israel does have its advantages: It's the only place I know where you can step off the beach and order a kosher falafel."

Surfing is more than a pastime for Rabbi Shifren. A founder of the organization Jewish Surfers International, he has led surfing trips complete with beginning classes on the kabbala and Talmud. Rabbi Shifren says that "people think you are either a surfer or a rabbi. No one would dream of combining the two. I say, 'let's take the surf and bring it into the beit midrash.'"

As diametrically opposed as the ocean and a beit midrash may seem, Rabbi Shifren sees a practical connection. "After your bar mitzvah, you sit and study in a yeshiva, then get married and have kids. You become overweight, and it's pretty sad." Rabbi Shifren has distinguished himself out of the water as a lifeguard and paddle-board racer. He also received a combat training degree at Machone Wingate in Netanya, Israel.

From his home he edits Surf & Soul Newsletter, which comes out six times a year and currently has 500 subscribers who pay $18 a year. Rabbi Shifren also sends out free weekly e-mail messages, "guaranteed to inspire and stoke!" He is not averse to merchandising: He offers stickers and T-shirts for home and surfing gear ("Ideal for bar mitzvahs, graduation, impress your boss" the offer says).

Rabbi Shifren earns a living teaching English to Israelis, teaching rabbinical studies and teaching surfing. His student bodies do not often overlap. He chuckles as he relays a motto he once heard: "Work is for people who don't surf." But work he does, bringing the message of surf and soul to anyone he comes in contact with.

From Rabbi Shifren's vantage point, surfing can have positive effects on intra-Jewish relations: "I am taking surfing on the road, surfing with Orthodox as well as nonreligious Jews. I did surf once with a priest on 'Good Morning America.' Surfing can help to bridge boundaries." He also has a web site, "www.surfsoul@virtual.co.il," which he says has helped expand the network of surfers with faith, Rabbi Shifren recalls, "I got an e-mail from a Baptist preacher in Maine. It said, 'Here's a gentile who wishes I was dropping in on you or surfing in Malibu.'"

The surfing world has also taken notice of Rabbi Shifren. Surfer magazine, which, says its editor, Steven Hawk, "is the Bible of the sport," says that "he is the only rabbi I know who surfs, or let me put it this way: He's the only one I know who surfs in a yarmulke."

You might say he is now riding a wave of popularity. After People magazine profiled him last month, Rabbi Shifren received some phone calls from New York publishing houses interested in telling his story in more detail. He's already written it. He and his wife have plans to self-publish "Surf and Soul: The Spiritual Journey from Malibu to Jerusalem." He says he also will be coming to America to be part of a film on surfing and spirituality.

Asked if he prays while surfing, Rabbi Shifren answers, "Not usually. Well, I do pray. I pray, 'Please don't let my wife be angry with me for another hour of surfing.'"

Mr. Shapiro is a writer living in New York.

As I recall, Rabbi Shifren now teaches in the LAUSD, and he was pleased to see an American flag at the BOND rally, and noted sadly that he does NOT have such a flag in his classroom!

Ted Hayes, activist for the homeless
And, last but certainly not LEAST, Ted Hayes, from www.domevillage.org:

Dome Village, The First Community of It's Kind

Justiceville, the activism of JHUSA (Justiceville/Homeless, USA), is the non-profit 501(c)3 corporation at the root of Dome Village's existence.  Initiated by homeless activist, Ted Hayes, Justiceville was born in January 1985 during time of a conservative controlled federal government.  It began as a tidy shantytown in the heart of Central City East, otherwise known as Skid Row.  Organized by more than 73 residents, Justiceville’s diverse population consisted of men, women, and children of various ethnicities and even welcomed their pets.

Under the leadership of Ted and a small core of village residents, Justiceville became the first community of homeless people of its kind in the County of Los Angeles.  Shortly after its inception the homeless village became a media hit, with news outlets capturing its saga to survive against all odds.  Those odds were a consequence of social service providers, advocates and a mayor who viewed the shanty community as a threat to the status quo of political arrangements in the city.  The strained relations between the popular community, social service providers, and the imminent threat of closure by the authorities, led Ted to enter a fast that lasted a total of 35 days that ended only upon the closure of Justiceville/Homeless, USA on May 10, 1985.

.

Ted also talked about the upcoming "March Against Terrorism":

I agree that black awareness is bubbling in the black community. The movie Barber Shop seemed to be blacks talking to blacks, saying "wake up". Great movie!

ONE PAIR OF MEN NAMED "JESSE", DIFF'RENT AS NIGHT AND DAY
National Day of Repudiation of Jesse Jackson

Los Angeles, California
January 20, 2003

JESSE J. IN THE 'HOOD

The loss of a few million bucks last year may have lost Jesse Jackson his red-marble enclosed West Los Angeles Rainbow/PUSH offices. The loss may have been responsible for his organization's move into a brown brick building in a modest neighborhood more dominated by the downtrodden brothers he claims to represent.

But never let it be said that Mr. Jackson doesn't have the hardcore audacity and willingness to continually humiliate himself despite karmatic hints the size of houses being dropped on his head.

You just gotta hand it to the man. He doesn't know when to shut up.

And you've gotta hand it to our American culture as it is today, because we just seem to eat his shenanigans up. That this man can still be even considered influential - much less actually be influential - is pretty good evidence to me in favor of arguments of modern moral de-evolution.

Jackson has been exposed in full as a fraud, a liar, an adulterer, an extortionist, a thief, and a bigoted drama queen who, if he had white skin, would probably have remained on the Hate Hunters Hit Lists for a lot longer than he did after that "Hymietown" crack.

Witness even our president, considered one of Black America's Greatest Enemies (to hear it from Jackson, heard the man lately?), bending over backwards to send ambassadors to Rainbow/PUSH's Wall Street Project. Outrageous that a president from the party that purports to be friendly to business feels his Administration would have anything to gain as far as corporate insight from the bloviations of a shakedown artist and his toadies. Like we don't have enough trouble cleaning up ethics in government as it is.

When considering a reason why even conservatives who voted for Bush accept this pandering as a necessary homage to diversity for partisan political viability, I can't decide which is worse - either they've been brainwashed by the "diversity over unity" argument, or they've plain exchanged their consciences to become part of a political collective. Those who once called to hold feet to the fire now approach, snarling and snapping at criticism, yet their tails firmly between their legs.

What happened to rugged individualism? Is this the "diversity" freedom-loving Americans care to embrace, defined as submission to the demands of profiteers whose sole purpose in life is to use their race to prop up themselves and their hoodlums in wealth and power through thought policing and extortion?

And while I'm thinking about it, how did this "Rainbow" jive come into his mini-Mafia's moniker? Every representative I've ever seen from the "Rainbow Coalition" has two things in common - black and believing that people they don't even know are indebted to them and should be ready to pay up.

And don't be fooled...you have to be "really" black to be on this Reverend's Sugar List. Those black Americans who call him to task for his reprehensible con-artist tactics and misbehavior ill becoming a man who calls himself "Reverend" aren't "really" black and are subject to Mr. Jackson's thuggish styles of retribution against those who have strayed off his plantation. And apologies aren't enough, brother. You'd better be prepared to pay up or show up or shut up or edit your movie or whatever else Master Jackson commands.

JESSE PETERSON - A RAINBOW OF HOPE, A PUSH IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION

One of Jesse Jackson's former admirers and followers had arranged on Martin Luther King Day, for the fourth year in a row, a rally to coincide with the black American icon's birthday. As it had been three years running, it was entitled National Day of Repudiation of Jesse Jackson, and as always, was sponsored by Brotherhood Organization of a New Destiny (B.O.N.D.). Jesse Lee Peterson, president of the organization, was once a very angry man, the type that reveled in the rhetoric of Jesse Jackson and Louis Farrakhan, inspired by their rage and the destiny they promised him as an aware and angry black man.

How he became the man he is today, publicly rebuking Jesse Jackson and others he calls "problem profiteers", is detailed in his book From Rage to Responsibility, which I highly recommend to all. He pulls no punches in his book about his opinions, his experiences, or even about himself.

For all the pulpit-pounding by the PC Police about "diversity", the gathering before the Rainbow/PUSH office in Los Angeles easily put them to shame - not only diversity of color and ethnicity, but diversity of thought and opinion. Bush Republicans, Democrats, independents, Libertarians, all gathered to proclaim their unity on one subject: Jesse Jackson, shakedown charlatan and self-appointed dictator-for-life over the New Perverted Civil Rights Movement, a man with a plan and a penchant for gladhanding despots and Communist strongboys, must be completely rejected as a man worthy of as much influence as he has over the current fabric of America.

No matter what one's feelings may be for Dr. King, certainly the idea of judgement based on content of character is noble and the presentation of such an idea amidst hostility takes some kind of guts. Jesse Jackson, who basically is understood to be "bearing the mantle" for Dr. King, has a lot of nerve, but no guts at all. His reaction to mere criticism of him is certainly not indicative of one who honors freedom of speech, for all his own continual lipping off that is fully intended to provoke. Yet Master Jesse is demanding the shears be taken to Barbershop for offensive comments one character makes about black civil rights leaders, including using the Big Four-Letter Expletive before uttering Master Jesse's name.

And suddenly, Master Jesse, race-baiter, food-spitter, et c., et c., turns into a Southern belle in a swoon. Bizarre. The producers apologize, hoping to appease him. Now Master Jesse wants them to trim the offensive scene out of the movie. No diversity of thought permitted, either, on Master Jesse's plantation.

Suckers.

Yet all this seems to be overlooked. It's astounding that the words "civil", "rights", and "leader" could be put together and used as a description for someone like Jesse Jackson. It's even more astounding that black Americans - with full encouragement of policymakers and movers and shakers on both sides of the aisle - have permitted themselves to be foisted with a "leader" at all who preaches that there are people who are to be considered less as people than others due to their skin color.

Jesse Peterson has been fighting against the rhetoric of his former spiritual mentor for over a decade - not only through the media, but through action, working with young black men in troubled situations to turn their lives around, to train them not only to be productive members of society abiding by Godly ethics in all aspects of dealing with people, but responsible men with respect for the institutions of marriage and family. And although Mr. Peterson has eschewed the rage which consumed him so long ago, there's still plenty of spark to fuel righteous anger against Jesse Jackson as a false shepherd, especially during these trying times when, like it or not, we are ready to engage hostile forces and send our military overseas.

The day before the Repudiation rally, Jesse Jackson joined with anti-war demonstrators in repudiating the Administration for involvement in post-9/11 military action. And what chaps my hide about this is not the expression of anti-war sentiment. I hate war myself. Good people get killed, and call it a "girl-thing", but I'm kind of sensitive about that. But a majority of these "anti-war" demonstrators are not so much anti-war as they are big fat hypocrites, because a majority of these people - including Jackson - were nowhere to be seen in mass demonstration against aggressive government action overseas when it was initiated by a Democrat President desperate to create a smokescreen during that whole Monica What's-Her-Name period in the Oval Office.

Jackson, who has committed himself repeatedly to anti-war efforts as long as it guarantees big hyper-leftie attendance to listen to his rants, was in full gale force at the rally. Boss Jackson and Mrs. King herself showed up to proclaim for peace and, of course, against the warmongering of the Republican Party. (Where were they again for that aspirin factory incident a few years ago? I forget. But I do recall a little over a year ago, Boss Jackson was showing his love for peace by setting his goons on Jesse Peterson for questioning Rainbow/PUSH's presence and influence over a Toyota corporate meeting.) Reverend Peterson has offered Jackson a one-way ticket to Iraq if he thinks it a better place to find his brand of freedom and justice.

The next day, Jesse Peterson was joined in repudiating Jive Jesse by Jane Chastain, radio talk show host and columnist; Wiley Drake, radio talk show host and pastor of Buena Park First Southern Baptist Church; Rabbi Nachum Shifren, educator, known as "The Surfing Rabbi" (!); Ted Hayes, activist and founder of Dome Village for the homeless; and Barbara Coe of California Coalition for Immigration Reform. B.O.N.D. heavyweights Patrick Rooney, Ermias Alemayehu, and Malcolm Jones took charge of the proceedings. Safety was assured by a patrol vehicle observing us directly across the street. There were really no incidents of any kind, although the tight-knit gathering extending down the sidewalk did get some curious glances from the locals.

Ms. Chastain focused upon the fact that her organization, Judicial Watch, is participating in Jesse Peterson's lawsuit against Jesse Jackson's Fraud Squad for assault. Pastor Drake critiqued PUSH, claiming it stood for "Poisoning the Understanding of the Spiritual Home". Rabbi Shifren beamed at the sight of an American flag in the crowd, lamenting the fact that, working in the LAUSD, there is no flag in his classroom. Ted Hayes blasted Jackson for his unwillingness to address the problems of the black community - homelessness, fatherless homes, gangs, teen pregnancies - choosing instead to focus upon extorting money from business to enrich himself.

And although one might think that being so close to the inner city that the attendees may have drawn the ire of the locals, instead they received a large percentage of positive feedback from the passersby. Many of my friends were in attendance for the proceedings, waving signs, chanting, applauding the speakers with gusto. RonDog, ALOHA RONNIE, abigail2, gc4nra, NRA_Lifer_RC, and Joy Angela from Free Republic, all there. SixString, my photographer and handler. D.J. from Liberty Belles. Connie Ruffley from United Republicans of California. Reed Heustis and Paul Hannosh from the American Independent Party. People I didn't even know who drove long distances to be there. People of every color and background whose first Repudiation it was and people who had attended every year. We took issue with those who give Jesse Jackson a pass on his nonsense, who validate his influence by looking to placate and pander to him despite the fact that at the same time they posture for accountability of those in power.

And Jesse Peterson will continue to take issue with with Jesse Jackson until Jackson repents. This may well be the Neverending Repudiation, but from one of the FReepers who attended, I learned a young friend of her family, whose father is black, was encouraged by his dad to attend the rally in order to "hear both sides". The young man was very intent as he listened to the speakers and was very much impressed by what he heard.

Jesse Peterson wasn't the first follower of Jackson to turn from him, and he won't be the last. Perhaps the rainbow of hope for black Americans lies in the message of self-sufficiency and responsibility from Jesse Peterson - a push, if you will, in the right direction, rather than reliance upon the lying words of a self-appointed "leader" looking to recruit for his Cult Of Skin.

It might take a long time, convincing black Americans (and other anxious misguided "diversitists") that they don't need a "leader" to tell them what to do, but the spirit of righteous resistance can be very powerful...and at times, even successful. Who knows? The message of individuals unified under freedom rather than the rush to racial warfare might resonate with an increasingly cynical and inquisitive American youth.

And as cynical and doubtful as I myself can be at times, it certainly is something over which to be pragmatic. Still, hope and prayer should never be jettisoned simply because of the power and influence of those who act wickedly.

Where there is resistance to wickedness, there is still hope. And while we are still free to do so, we can and will - and must - resist.

Fret not.
