Thank you Nellie, and thank you all very much. I am in Missouri today, and I appreciate being included in your celebration of life.
I know that many of you have made great sacrifices to come to Washington today -- riding buses all night, and braving the cold all day. I admire your perseverance and your devotion to the cause of life.

I hope the United States Senate will pass a bill this year banning partial-birth abortion, which I will sign. Partial-birth abortion is an abhorrent procedure that offends human dignity. I hope so too. I thought that a PBA ban bill was supposed to be the first order of business in this new congress.

Thats wonderful - But if we can just get Free Republic to stop killing Snuggles. We should start a Right to Snuggles protest! ;-)
In all seriousness - Bush is such a compassionate president! He keeps amazing me! This must have been a great boost!

Thanks for the post. I believe that one day we will all be held accountable to God. I also believe that He will ask each of us what we did to stop the murdering of innocent babies in our own country. May His mercy be upon us.

That was Trent Lott's goal.
Don't know if the new Senate Majority leader Frist is that committed to the pro-life cause.

There is a up to
$500.00 (not to exceed ever $25,000) fine to any one that kills an 'endangered' fox, or upsets/touches certain turtle nest eggs along our shores. Under the detailed listings of the federal
Endangered Species Act. There is a $350.00 to $500.00 'amount due' to kill the human species. (AKA abortion) And in second/third human trimesters; scissors are jabbed into the HUMAN head and the brains are sucked out-In elective surgeries- daily, in the United States, all under the guise of a woman's "right." The only real "right" is the "right" to remain silent.
When will humans become "endangered" and protected?
When will the so called pro-"choicers" realize basic science skills of the food-chain? Human's are NOT at the bottom of the food-chain.
Do they really see what they do, with their political correctness all in the guise of a "woman's right"?

My personal feelings on this subject are the same as I have towards the HIV/AIDS issue, somehow medical issues have become political footballs. Doctors should be the ones who determine whether or not to terminate a pregnancy based on medical guidelines not politicians. I heard the actress Kathleen Turner on TV at a NARAL rally saying "I fear for my daughter" in response to some possibility the the R vs. W decision should be reversed. If she fears so much, she might try a.) teaching her about berth control or b.) inculing in her a moral sense that would have her eschew sex until she wished to give birth. Besides which, Ms. Turner is rich enough that she probably wouldn't have to worry anyway.

Yes, Richard, every individual alive today began their individual lifetime at conception. Interestingly, the science of nascent human life tells us that the first hour after union of sperm and egg, the individual new human life starts its own growth process. It's called mitosis, the cell division that proves a unique individual human being therefore exists and is a separate individual human life from the woman's body. And that's the rest of the story.

Oh they have much more important business to attend to [dripping in sarcasm]...from the
Senate Calendar:
S.RES.14 Sponsor: Sen Voinovich, George V. [OH] (introduced 1/7/2003)
Latest Major Action: 1/7/2003 Passed/agreed to in Senate.
Status: Submitted in the Senate, considered, and agreed to without amendment and with a preamble by Unanimous Consent.
Title: A resolution commending the Ohio State University Buckeyes football team for winning the 2002 NCAA Division 1-A collegiate national football championship.
S.RES.16
Sponsor: Sen Bunning, Jim [KY] (introduced 1/9/2003)
Latest Major Action: 1/9/2003 Passed/agreed to in Senate.
Status: Submitted in the Senate, considered, and agreed to without amendment and with a preamble by Unanimous Consent.
Title: A resolution honoring the Hilltoppers of Western Kentucky University from Bowling Green, Kentucky, for winning the 2002 National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I-AA Football Championship.
On Frist's stance:
When asked about potential abortion-related legislation on NBC's "Meet the Press," Frist said, "We are just beginning sort of all the planning in terms of what particular bills. I think things like partial-birth abortionand I can tell you as a physician who has been in the operating room for thousands of days and hundreds of thousands of hours, the whole concept of partial-birth abortion offends the sensibilities of me as a physician. It's a rogue procedure. It's not in the medical textbooks. Something like that where we've got not consensus but broad, broad support among the American people, I can see that coming very, very quickly." He added, "It's an abhorrent, abhorrent procedure that offends the civil sensibilities of every, I think, just about every American."
Frist also said he "[a]bsolutely" supports a ban on both reproductive and therapeutic cloningopposed by pro-life groups.
About therapeutic cloning, he said, "I am opposed to any time that you create an embryo itself with the purpose being destruction, and that would include the so-called research cloning," adding, "And remember, research cloning is just that, it's experimental. There's been no demonstrated benefit of that to date." He said the Senate would address a cloning ban "at some point."

I was hoping Bush would say something about appointing pro-life judges.
To: ravingnutter
Thanks, I think.
To: ravingnutter
That is comforting to know (that Frist agrees with our position on PBA).
I hope it is also a priority for him.
