At sea aboard USS Nimitz (CVN 68) Jan. 19, 2003 -- Postal Clerk 3rd Class Geraldine Hood from Shreveport, La., checks the weight of a customers outgoing mail in the Post Office. Nimitz is currently undergoing a Composite Unit Training Exercise (COMPTUEX) off the coast of San Diego, Calif. A COMPTUEX is an exercise designed to forge a battle group into a cohesive fighting force. When successfully completed, the COMPTUEX qualifies the carrier battle group for open ocean operations. At sea aboard USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71) Jan. 19, 2003 -- Aviation Ordnancemen Kevin Nelson and Ron Warfield, both assigned to the "Valions" of Strike Fighter Squadron One Five (VFA-15), transport AIM-7 "Sea Sparrow" missiles to for uploading to attack aircraft before the next launch.
