The next time somebody goose steps thru Paris, I hope all our troops are snug at home watching it on the six o'clock news while the French troops hide out in their wine cellars! Except for not having very many "our troops" (and the lack of television) that is pretty much what happened June 14, 1940 when the Germans entered Paris.
The US did not enter World War II until about 18 months later.
