However, I can't count the number of times I've heard Blacks insult/threaten me and other 'white' people.
You hit the nail on the head. I have had the unfortunate experience of meeting a few bigots in my time - although I think that 'hate' is too strong a word for their feelings, ignorance and inferiority are more apt, but I digress.
I think that if I could sum the overall feelings of myself and most of my friends towards any minority up into one word, it would be "indifference".
Speaking solely for myself, I could care if you're (black, gay, asian, insert minority here). My friends and co-workers span the whole spectrum. However, to a race-baiting idiot, mere equal acceptance of a minority is not enough. I need to celebrate the diversity flavor-of-the-week. And, if I express my viewpoint that I honestly don't care about a person's ancestry, then I'm a bigot.
/rant off. I feel better now.
I wonder how many Black People condemn their own when racial slurs and threats are made against whites? Maybe I am a racist...cause I would bet hardly ever.
