My Daughter is white and she is a fifth grade teacher in the inner city of Bridgeport Ct.I can tell you the problem is that these kids dont care ,the majority of parents dont care ,the system says if the student says 1 plus 1 is 3,thats ok they tried.Fifth grade students cant divde,how did they get to fifth grade?When you say leave no child behind ,they take it literally and just pass them along .

Exactly. Many teachers don't expect their students to learn. The entire "system" is abysmal.
