My personal view is the media doesn't want to see a link made between AQ and Iraq because there will be even more support for the attack on Iraq and the libs in the media would be deeply unhappy.

I'm similarly inclined. Though I believe incompetence (or ignorance) is one of the primary sources of the intransigence.

One would think that, with the rise of the internet and the alternative media, the mainstream would media would recognize that they can't keep the lid on the story forever. That they're conducting what can be no more than a rear-guard holding action against the truth...

But, then, we arrive at the ignorance factor, again...
