One of the people with whom Ritter has appeared before these peace groups is former UN Oil for Food Program guy Denis Halliday. Here's what I found on an Iraqi ex-patriate groups' web site regarding the meeting they had with him (there were other equally abrasive descriptions of that meeting too, beginning with a report by Mohammed Al-Sadr, a fellow who wants sanctions removed but unlike Halliday, does not want Saddam and his Baaathist party to remain in power. They seem amazed that Halliday supports the regime.):

Re: Report on the Denis Halliday meeting against the sanctions held in Dublin July 9, 2000 By Mohammed Al-Sadr (IFD Representative in Ireland)

Salam,

As I invited him to Cardiff in Wales for his lecture, Monday 10th July, I too have met Denis Halliday, as well as exchanging innumerous emails before and since the event - I deduced regretably that he too is in Saddam's pocket. I also stongly believe that he errs, as he has no right to understate the horrific experiences of Saddam's victims, which I observed he persistently continues to do, with his pacifist and communist friends. Denis is going to Baghdad in October .... to collect his reward from the Demon whom he repeatedly asks us all not to demonise perhaps ?

Best wishes,
Sister Moonirah

Wow, great find. Thanks for the post! I, too, find it incredible that anyone legitimately wants to have Saddam in power (aside from any bribes).
