Not young. I care for family and friends. Beyond that I refuse to have feelings. I operate by logic alone. To do otherwise would be too painful.

Wow. So what separates you from the animals? (Not trying to be mean, I am being serious.) Protect yourself if you must, but remember this: Life is not about what you protect yourself from, it is about what you give yourself to. You can choose to keep yourself in a box, or you can choose to fight for what you believe in, help others and make a beautiful difference in their lives (family or not), and build something that will endure past the limits of your own time here. What will your contribution be to the world? How will you be remembered? Who will remember you? (Sorry if this is too pointed, but our days on earth are not guaranteed! You have to think about this stuff NOW, not on your death bed.)
Fruit grows on the BRANCHES of the tree...not on the trunk. You have to get on a limb for it, but that's the good stuff that is delicious and nourishing. Sounds like you're surviving on the dry bark of the trunk. It might be scary to get out there, and take a risk, but it's worth it. I hope you will re-think your philosophy. Good luck.< /lecture >
