[history]
IT looks like Jackson Browne is trying to rewrite history.
The rocker has demanded that TBS Superstation delete a scene from the next re-broadcast of "American Prince: The John F. Kennedy Jr. Story," which shows Kennedy rescuing a battered and bruised Daryl Hannah from an abusive Browne.

The first account I read, of JFK abandoning the CIA's Tibetan Army to their deaths, I read in George magazine. He cut off their supplies, and refused phone calls to the White House from their handlers as they were surrounded and dying, down to the last man.
I have seen similar accounts written elsewhere since, but JFK Jr. printed it with all the terrible details. I always thought that spoke volumes about his character.

Brown Eyed Girl...That was Van Morrison's song.

Actually, that would be Van Morrison.

Interesting perspective. Sure seems like JFK the president let down a whole host of folks, examples being the Bay of Pigs, Diem in Viet Nam, the case you mentioned, and probably a few others. I've read that allowing the overthrow of Diem was the worst US foreign policy mistake in a generation.

Although Jackson Browne did have a song titled "Your Bright Baby Blues" on his Pretender album.

Oh, the angst. Perhaps Jackson Browne will write a song about it...

Didn't that song win a special place in Dave Barry's list of 100 All Time Worst Songs?

I can always depend on FReepers to keep things factually correct.

Didn't that song win a special place in Dave Barry's list of 100 All Time Worst Songs? Could be. The only one I remember from that list was the Neil Diamond song with the verse "and no one heard, not even the chair." Barry's comment: "Mr. Diamond, your Barcalounger is on line one."

Now the seats are all empty
Let the roadies take the stage
There's a mermaid I gotta beat down
They're the first to come and the last to leave
As I am ventin' my rage....
If the union don't mind
And the promoter don't mind
And the roadies don't mind if we take a little time
Before we leave it all behind and
Punch her..one more time....

I only remember McArthurs park being in Mr. Barry's list, due to the line about leaving the cake out in the rain, and not having the recipe and seeing as how it took so long to bake etc. etc.

Well, maybe for you, Jackson.

Browne wrote some autobiographical tunes:
Red Neck Friend and Fountain of Sorrow

Jackson Red, raised money for the Christics with his rock concerts. I can say with a lot of confidence, that he never got any of my money. Not that I knew what he was up to, I just never cared for the 70s and 80s "rock noise".

Brown was an excellent song-writer
Well I'm running down the road trying to loosen my load
I've got seven women on my mind
Four that wanna own me, two that wanna stone me
One says she's a friend of mine
Take it Easy was his biggest hit, performed by the Eagles. Unfortunately, the fact that someone is good in one area doesn't mean they're capable in other areas. Lot of Freeper heroes have feet of clay. John Wayne had a lot of affairs, and several marriages, Mel Gibson was pretty wild in his younger days, John Denver did some pretty good music, but was caught doing something like trying to cut up his ex-wife's house with a chain saw, nobody wants to get into all the sports figures. There was quite a bit of wailing and moaning around here when Jerry Garcia died, and he probably did more to popularize drug use than most performers, dittoes for the Beatles.
I still like some of Browne's music, but have grown past the stage where I expect to find secrets of life in a pop song, although I was probably worse than most about that in the early seventies when I listened to him.
