I am 30, so I didn't witness the protests against the Vietnam war in the 60's.

Well, you didn't miss much, they looked pretty much like the groups today, only they flew Viet Cong and North Vietnames flags, rather than Iraqi, American Communist, and Palistinian ones. It was the same "Hate America" crowd. If anything the ones today were somewhat milder, probably due to several factors. The cold, old age, and lack of a draft come to mind.

I see the consequences of their "peace" protests every day. A nice young (compared to me) lady in our office, just a couple of years older than you, escaped from Vietnam afer her father was released (I think the family bought his release) from a "re-education" camp. Then of course there was that pile of skulls in Cambodia that made even the Vietnamese communists sick.

The "protesters" choice of enemies says alot about them, but their choice of friends says even more.

that pile of skulls in Cambodia

Three million, wasn't it? Directly attributable to the anti-war crowd.
