Perhaps you are correct. I am working from an Egyptian/English dictionary, and i read something quite differently from your guess.

I think takbir means to blow up; but this is why:

takbir sura (with lower-case 's') means to blow up a photograph; sura (capital 's'), pl. means photograph, picture or portrait. Hence, I am guessing ('cuz i don't know for certain) it could have been an incitement to do some rather nasty things...particularly in the context of the larger theme of the glorification of the 'mujahideen' ...the love letter they were reading from their demagog... and the usual antipathy spewed forth against Israel, et al.

Waiting to hear back from my friend from Egypt to get an accurate correct translation.(East Coast time means i won't hear back until tomorrow.)

Did you see Mel Gibson's "We Were Soldiers"? Remember that scene where Hal Moore's giving the graduation speech to all his new trainees and he says he doesn't care by which name folks call "God"?! I can't do it justice, but the Lt.Col.'s refreshing way of looking at a multi-millenium's worth of religious hatred and bigotry as a difference in pronunciation...that struck home with me.
