This is my first posting ever on Freerepublic.

Late yesterday afternoon, my wife and I took our children to the videostore. We rented a number of videos, one of which was the one take by the camera men in the World Trade Center. As someone who lived the first 29 years of his life in the shadow of the WTC, worked in it and the building around it, the video was of very personal interest to me.

As many of you probably know, the original intent of the camera crew was to follow a Probie (or rookie) NYC firefighter till he fought his first fire and became a "firefighter." The Engine Company they were following was the first on the scene at the WTC. The chaos, fear and death captured as 2WTC went down is unspeakable.

It is amazing how many of those who protested yesterday have forgotten what happened there and at the Pentagon (we must never forget what happened there either!!!).

As I watched the video and thought about the scenes I had witnessed on CSPAN the day earlier, their were a couple of thoughts going thru my mind:

1. I was sorry that I could not be there with you. My sign would have simply been: 9/11 Never Forget, Never Forgive.

2. Are these people that naive to believe that their is no threat or are they just too fat and happy.

3. These are the same people (or at least most of them) who protested again the World Bank/IMF in late Sept./Oct. of last year. I guess the only way they can stay in business is to attack group after group. It reminds me of NYC Foley Square...the same groups use to protest racism, abortion, etc. Same faces, same tired slogans.

4. Where were they during Bosnia? Where were they during Mogadishu?

5. Mr. Saddam is not such a bad person, only Mr. Bush is. Shades of 1938...Peace in our Times.

I am sorry that I was not able to join you. But as someone who has protested Castro in NYC and ABC before its taping of The Day After, I look forward to joining you in the future.
