I have no issues with the "Alien" part of the act. Those who are not U.S. citizens, I believe we have the right to deport them at will or bar them from entering the country. I believe that non-citizens do NOT have the rights of a U.S. citizen, even if they reside in this country.

It is the "Sedition" part of the act that I totally disagree with. U.S. citizens should have the right to criticize their government no matter what the circumstances.

FDR signed into law, the Smith Act, in 1940 which required that Aliens must register. I don;t see that he invoked a sedition act. Altho, internment, etc of legal residents might warrant that conclusion that such a policy, justified or not, was implemented. Unfairly, IMO.

I appreciate your sentiment about "It is the "Sedition" part of the act that I totally disagree with. U.S. citizens should have the right to criticize their government no matter what the circumstances."

When you advocate the overthrow of the US Govt, does that not in fact warrant some reasonable actions may be deemed necessary against those proponents? Just playing Devil's Advocate.. Some of these speakers today are hardly what I consider reasonable folks.
