Creative story but most fisherman know they would lose a 100 pound fish if their boat was firmly archored at the time. It's better to let the boat get pulled along by the fish and wear itself out. If you're anchored the fish might break the line.
Over at www.westmarine.com you can buy a very good anchor to hold a 14 ft. aluminum boat in the bay for as cheap as $10. A danforth anchor is light and easy to work with, and will do a fine job. I've never known any fisherman on the bay to use a homemade concrete anchor.
