Husband of missing Modesto woman lied about girlfriend, family says

MODESTO, Calif. (AP) - The husband of a missing pregnant woman may have lied about his relationship with a girlfriend and possibly other things, a spokeswoman for the family said Friday.

Kim Petersen, a spokeswoman for relatives of Laci Peterson, 27, of Modesto, said police have shown the family recent photographs of Scott Peterson with a girlfriend. The husband had previously denied such a relationship, the family said.

"Now, however, they believe he has lied to them about this, and possibly other things as well," Petersen said.

"Approximately two weeks ago, Ron Grantski, Laci's stepfather, asked Scott if he had a girlfriend. Scott told him no and Ron believed him," Petersen said.

"The family is asking him to tell everything he knows and to fully cooperate with the Modesto Police Department," Petersen said. "Their family is the most important thing to them and if Scott has nothing to hide, they ask him to prove that."

Laci Peterson was reported missing on Christmas Eve. She is due to deliver a baby boy on Feb. 10. Her husband told investigators he went fishing at the Berkeley Marina on Christmas Eve morning.

Police did not indicate to the family if investigators believed Scott Peterson was responsible for his wife's disappearance, according to Petersen.

"The family knows that the police are doing their job," Petersen said. "They don't want to do anything that can hurt their chances of finding Laci."

Petersen, executive director of the Carole Sund-Carrington Memorial Reward Foundation, which is sponsoring a reward for Laci Peterson's safe return, said the Modesto center closed Thursday.

Volunteers also canceled plans to open a one-day center in Los Angeles on Sunday.

"Although Laci has not been located yet, our search effort will not stop," said Brad Saltzman, general manager of the Red Lion Hotel in Modesto, who had been organizing the volunteer centers. "We will continue to search for Laci and her baby boy."

Police have repeatedly said Scott Peterson is not a suspect but has been less than cooperative.

You know what? I know EXACTLY what you did last summer. You bought a life insurance policy, and thereby put a CHEAP price on the head of your innocent baby boy, and also on that of your sweet, unsuspecting, and precious wife, Laci. She really loved you, Scott, and she trusted you with her heart, and her life. That was her last and final flaw, unfortunately. I know you saw that devastated look on her face . . . when it was over, and while you did what you KNOW you did.

What raced through your mind, when you did it, Scott? Did you cry, or even break a sweat . . . AT ALL?! Ever?! Did she?

Oh, she and the baby deserved SO MUCH better than you!!!!!

Can't you just feel it eating you alive, Scott?! Your heart's racing, you're blinking fast, and it's soooooo hard to breathe, and you just can't stop replaying what you did to her and that baby inside of her.

So, Scott, tell me this: How did it feel to conceal ALL that you've done, before, during, and after her manufactured disappearance, and then to go on to concoct that TRANSPARENT, unintelligent story about your "whereabouts?" How did it feel watching her family suffer, Scott? How did it feel, when you went on air that first time, knowing DAMN WELL that your mistress would identify you and know that you weren't who you claimed to be? How did it feel lying to your wife, while you went to see Ms. Fresno? How does it feel to know that you have single-handedly, and unnecesarily ruined your life, and the ENTIRE lives of all those who REALLY loved Laci?

God saw you when you did it, Scott, and He will reveal it ALL.

How does it feel, to know that you are SOON to be fully exposed? Will you be able to look into your mother's face, at that very moment when she'll have no choice but to accept that you are a murderous, lying, cheating, cowardly sociopath?!

You have nothing more to lose at this point, Scott. You screwed up any chances of getting the life insurance money, having any freedom whatsoever, or peace of mind, or even gaining back your salvation.

So, please tell us . . . where did you leave your wife and child? We need to put those angels to rest in the best condition possible, and ONLY YOU can help. Why? Because you know their location. After all, you WERE there.

The note you wrote and hung up at the Red Lion Hotel volunteer center tells it all, Scotty Boy. And yes, she CAN hear you now.

The clues and predictions: the cleaning up you did after your farce-of-a-fishing-trip. The late time you left out to "fish," and the time you returned. The witness that saw YOU driving her lifeless body toward south of Modesto, with your boat hitched on back. The missing bait and tarp. The automated marina ticket stamp. Your change of clothes. All of your cpu's hard drive, email, chats, postal mail, voice mails, cell, home, and work phone records. Your calm, leashed dog wandering around your neighbor's yard. The guilt and anxiety on your face when filmed by the media. The way you bowed your head in shame, repeatedly. The smiles and giggles you dealt out at her New Year's Eve Vigil. Your unwise behavior toward, and the false statements given to, the police. Your mistress voluntarily giving up ALL the goods-- including dated photos-- to the authorities. All the dumb lies you told. The interviews you avoided. The lie detector test you claimed you would take, only to bail out soon after. Your addiction to the country club life and your social-climbing efforts. Your storming out of that first press conference, when the media was on to you. That sick, filthy, self-loathing sensation that came over your body, every time a volunteer or someone from Laci's family held you close to their bodies, with tears in their eyes. That panic you felt when you heard that the cops had told it on you, to Laci's family. The realization that Laci's family will stop at nothing, or no one, to find her and her son. And ultimately, that wink that the inmates will give you, as they lick their lips and plot your "XXX Welcoming Party," upon your arrival . . . in shackles.

Just face it, Scott, it's over for you. And I can't wait to see it ALL unfold. . . .

May the wrath of God be placed on you, Scott Peterson . . . and all those who knowingly assist you in your evil acts. He knows EVERYTHING you did, Scott, and so will we all . . . VERY SOON.
