I rented "Signs" last night. Other than being frustrated by the darkly lit scenes (I want to SEE what's going on), I really enjoyed the movie. The message was uplifting. I love Mel Gibson.

I was disturbed by one of the previews on the video. It was for an upcoming TV series on ABC. There were violent scenes and the words "God is Nowhere" flashed on the screen. One man said something like, "Why would God do this?" Another replied, "Who said it's God?" It looks absolutely horrible. I don't know what the name of the show is going to be (unless it's "God is Nowhere"), but it's definitely anti-God. I hope it bombs.

Your frustration with the darkness was part of the point. Shayamalan got to you, as he intended to do. The darkness is frustrating and disorienting, much like his camera's tendency to linger on something, ANYTHING other than what you desperately want to see!

I thought it was a very well-made movie.

It's Miracles, and I get the impression that it may not be anti-God. This is from TV Guide:

"Miracles
The Ferguson Syndrome
60 min.
Debut: Skeet Ulrich (“Scream”) plays an investigator of the paranormal.
Employed by the Church to authenticate supposed miracles, Paul Callan (Ulrich) finds he is losing his faith. “Maybe we are alone down here,” he says. Disheartened by having to discredit such phenomena, Callan informs his mentor (Hector Elizondo) that he needs a respite and heads west. As if by fate, he meets a sickly boy who seemingly has the power to heal. This is one case he can't discredit, and the child figures prominently in an incredible event that leads to Callan's recruitment by a mysterious organization. Alva Keel: Angus MacFadyen. Tommy Ferguson: Jacob Smith."
